Methods Draft

Q PSYC 3140 Methods Draft Now that you have collected data you can begin drafting the Methods section of your paper. The Methods section describes usually three subsection participants (who did you investigate?), Materials (What did you use?) and Procedures (How did you collect the data?). The Methods section of the paper from the Class Research Project should describe a Participants sub-section and identify responders of the survey as students at UNO (details on average age, gender breakdown etc. will be in the results section). Additionally, Describe the location of where the University is located. The Materials sub-section should describe the survey from which we recorded data including a brief summary of the kinds of variables that were collected. You can note the specifically the variables relevant to your research hypothesis from the Introduction section and mention the “additional variables”. It should be noted in the Materials section that these questions are student generated and not validated by outside replication. The Procedure sub-section will detail how the data was collected including how students were approached to complete the survey (take notes during our discussion in class). Consult Ch. 2 and Appendix A in the Cozby text. 30 points. • APA Style • Approximately 1-2 pages • Times New Roman, 12 pt. Font, double spaced • Due Wednesday 10/25 by the end of day on Canvas.

For this set of research, the participant status includes both male and female participants, all of which are students at University of Nebraska-Omaha, the age group would be filled with late teens, early twenties. There was approximately 149 participants, at least 64 female, 84 male, and one unknown. The participants were recruited through students enrolled in a Methods class asking them to complete a survey anonymously. UNO is located just east of 72nd and Dodge St in Omaha, Nebraska. When creating the survey, the students in this Psychology class generated the questions to construct the survey.
